Steering wheels for Murenas

I wonder if anyone knows for sure which boss kits will fit a Murena?

My steering wheel is quite rotten and needs replacing. I would like to get an original wheel for completeness but generally prefer a leather one rather than the foam. I also have to replace the gear lever top which is rotten too.

I found these on eBay and wondered if it was the same fit..

I read the old posts on this and think it might work, or be useful as a base for a replacement wheel. What has anyone else gone with?

It is very little closer to the dash and sometimes my nails touches the top of the dash when turning.
So I placed a 2 cm spacer and then the pinker-switch is a bit to far of, but that is getting used to.
There are not much choices $:-\$

Food for thought:

D-Type NOVA 330mm dia. in leather in picture. Not an original but a variation on the theme of one. Gives a bit more room above your legs.

I did have a similar shape Sparco fitted in black suede which was great, but it eventually became worn and shiny. See link below:

Is it just me,

or doesn't your gear knob face the wrong way?

Others I have seen with that shape the point is facing forward to make sure your fingers don't slip off, i.e. when you have to shift quickly during a race.

Yes indeed correct. The gear lever was too far away the other way round when strapped in. So this was a compromise that suits me. Never had a problem.

Thanks all. I'm going to get a boss that gives me a choice of wheels. The six hole fit seems pretty standard to me.

My Murena had an aftermarket wheel when I bought it: an Italvolanti Indianapolis Formel (365 mm).

Apart from being a tiny little bit too close to the top of the instrument binnacle, my main problem was that it was black!

This week I discovered the same wheel but in brown (brand new, still in the box) together with a matching (used) boss.

The boss has the code number 1603X

The boss is black. I did consider painting it, but don't think it is too noticeable.

Old and new

I was able to simply unbolt the old one and put the new onee on the existing boss (also 1603X).

Now it looks much better – and feels lovely and new!

I may connect up the horn buttons (haven't yet) but the wirring is all there

So pleased to have found this...

and the black one will go very nicely in my Beta Spider

I should perhaps point out that here in Switzerland, to qualify for "Veteran" status (with the numerous advantages that offers) cars can only have periood accessories, so a modern wheel is disqualified.

Today I made a order of a Personal Fitti 350 sude leather, + hub + spacer + Matra horn button. This setup will make the steeringwheel end up in the exact same position as the original. Have had the Fitti on some of my alfas and have always loved the grip on them. Did order from the seller on ebay that have the hub in the link above.

Is there anyone of you guys putting new steering wheels in your Murenas, Who have a brown original steering wheel with no cracks in the vinyl surface? And who want to part with it?

^^^ I think you'll find that most brown original wheels get replaced because they have failed...

I wanted a stock wheel too and asked about getting an original brown one. I was told that the brown ones have most problems with deteriorating with age, so I doubt that many people will have good, old wheels...
