windscreen seal

just in case anyones interested i have found a company who can supply more or less an identical windscreen surround(rubber strip) for about 7 gbp as opposed to the price of 43 gbp being quoted by certain companies/suppliers.well worth replacing at that price !!

I'm interested, do note that the rubber extends from the rear of the car all the way around the windscreen (but is split in the middle), so it's two long pieces.

hi everybody.i do know that the seal splits in the middle and extends over the roof,but basically this is available by the metre, you just cut it to length.theres also 3 diffrent types but ill give you all the info so you can order free samples if you wish.the closest match for the seal on the murena is HERZIM 110

Personally - given the option, I would not split the seal in the middle, but rather join it under the B-pillar covers or something. Many windscreens are damaged by water creeping in through the seal-join - maybe accelerated by the way the seals seem to crimp over the years.

Good point!

My car suffers from just that problem. Rust develops under the windscreen and the moisture that gets in is clearly visible on the windscreen which has developed "white spots" all along the lower edge of it. It's due for replacement of course, but for now, I have just sealed the area all the way round with some windscreen sealant, and it works well. It keeps rain out of the car too

I couldn't find the Herxhim, but visited a caravan part supplier last month and found strip that they put in allu rails.

It is a softer plastic/rubber, and easyly bend sidewards.

a €5.- job and 6 ours of time $:-\$

!!! i dont even have that seal after the windscreen was renewed

It shouldn't leak without the seal.
Did you derust/cleaned it before you got the window glued in?
Also it is important to put a etching primer on were the glue touch the iron, otherwise the glue will not have enough grip on the galvanised iron.

I dont know. It was changed right before I got the car

now theres a sort of foam around the screen that holds water very easy. it can be pressed and water comes out...

Just to bump an old thread.

Terry and I will be getting windscreens sorted in the next few months. So I thought I would try and get the trim sorted. As already found the Herzim 110 may be a good bet but hopefully the piccies below may help in the future or for people on the main land to find alternatives. The dimensions are not exact but good enough to get an alternative.
The profile is distorted so the red lines show where it should be.

As far as I know the seller was the owner of HB Pièces so should be reliable. I have not ordered from him before so cannot vouch for him.

According to the description there is enough length to cover the windscreen and the 2 small strips on the roof.

Thanks for the link that looks good, expensive but there again where else can you get the correct part ( Simon , Carjoy $$$).

It also shows mine is missing the bottom leg which is measured as dim. C
How does this fit on the roof as there is no gap for it to go? Do you trim it off? I can see how it goes around the edge of the screen as there is the gap .

By expert measurement:
1. Back of the roof around to the middle bottom of the screen ~ 2.3 M. * 2
2. Across the top of the screen ~ 1.2 M

This is an old thread so the links have expired. Does anyone have a current good value alternative supplier for the windscreen seal? Phoenix Supplies in Devon looks the right place for this type of product, but I can't find the HERZIM 110 product.

I'm getting rainwater collecting on the parcel shelf, which I assume is getting in round the windscreen somehow. If I get a new sealing strip I assume I can pull the old strip out and fit it with the windscreen still in place. Is that right?
